# Yes & No

Most prediction markets use “Yes / No” before placing a trade

There are 2 outcomes which they follow

* Buy YES
* Buy NO

**On PRED:**

* **YES = you believe the outcome will happen**
* **NO = you believe the outcome will NOT happen**

***

### Concept - Buying Yes / No

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
All orders on PRED are placed on buy prices. Eg. if Barcelona Yes price is **68¢**, that means chances of Mexico winning is **68%**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
If I think Barcelona will win, I'll go buy Yes at **68¢** and I'll get **$1** if Barcelona wins and lose **68¢** if Barcelona loses. Say I'm buying **100** Yes shares of FC Barcelona and so I'll pay **100x0.68 = $68**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
If I think FC Barcelona will lose, I'll buy No at 32**¢** and I'll get **1$** if FC Barcelona loses and lose **100 - 68 = 32¢** if FC Barcelona wins.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
So when I go buy NO , I'm actually paying **100-68**¢ per share. Say I'm buying 100 No shares of FC Barcelona and so I'll pay 100x(1-0.68) = **$32**
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
