# Cashout

Cashout means selling your bet early instead of waiting for the event to finish.

You bought shares that pay **$1 if you’re right** and **$0 if you’re wrong**. Cashout is selling those shares now at the current market price instead of waiting.

If the market moved your way, you lock a smaller profit. If it moved against you, you cut a loss. You give up the chance of the full $1.

Unlike a sportsbook, the platform does not set the cashout price. **Other traders do.** You get the best bid someone is willing to pay, minus a small fee. On thin markets that price can sit below the number on the screen.

**Hold** if you still like the original bet. **Cash out** if you want certainty today.

On PRED it's very simple, you can cashout whatever percentage you like at any give point of time!
